Patients participate with a group of peers who are similar in age and life experiences. Families are included in the therapeutic process. Aftercare planning is also provided to maintain improvement made in treatment. Each patient has a treatment team of medical and clinical professionals who work together to pinpoint the nature of the problem. Each patient has a psychiatrist as well as a medical doctor to address both the mental and physical issues the individual may be experiencing. Dogwood Senior Health Center puts an emphasis on family involvement. Family members are encouraged to attend weekly family conferences. These conferences give the family, patient, and staff the opportunity to sit down and discuss the individual's progress in treatment, and give the family the opportunity to ask any questions they may have.
